HOWEVER . . . .
I have read various reports that indicate that many council are
now better off finacially than before the UNITED WAY and Levi
reduced or illimated contributions! The number of DESIGNATED
and/or direct contributions to BSA was increaded. Since United
WAY has to pass on all designated contributions to NOT "participating"
agencies, (minus a fee), some council have seen an INCREASE in
fund routed VIA UW etc. It has also caused councils to fianlly
plan for the FUTURE and not live day to day looking for handouts!
The local council hear is probably in the best finacial shape of
the past 25 years, and new contributions to the INDOWMENT funds
and the new HERITAGE foundation are reported on a regular basis!
The publicity generated by the UB cut offs, and the Levis deal,
may have helped BSA in the long term! Only those councils that
have failed to adjust, and create a plan for the future should
be in any real troubles. The Buffalo area is NOT doing well
economicly, BUT BSA seems to be doing just fine, thankyou!
