There are really no set rules. All I can offer is what my troop does. We
have elections twice a year: Fall and Spring. This makes for a term of
6 months. The installations (and recognition of the past leaders) is done
at a Court of Honor that follows the election the next week. One other
point -- our troop does not allow a scout to hold the same elected office
twice in a row. This is done to make sure that leadership positions can
be shared by many.
