I belong to a district that is having a special Halloween party at the local
recreation center in the afternoon on October 30th. On Halloween itself my
son's school is sponsoring a party including a pumpkin patch which the
children decorate paper pumpkins and it is put on a wall, pin the tail on the
whatever (pumpkin, skelletin, ghost, etc.), painting t-shirts in glow in the
dark paint, and then they judge the costumes in groups of the same grade level
(infants, nursery, kindergarten, 1st grade...). They charge $5 (to cover cost
of goody bag) and a baked good or drink. This has been very successful with a
turnout of about 300 children.
Suggestions for scavenger hunt: red leaf, twig about 6" long, pinecone, acorns
spider, worm, beetles, cobwebs, berries.
Hope this helps.
