Ah, yes, camporees. While we adults spend megahours trying to figure out
a worthwhile program for the Scouts, we miss the point IMHO that a
camporee is in its most basic form a gathering of Scouts for the purpose
of celebrating our association with Scouting. For those units that
"don't need the district," etc., they have missed the point. We are a
world BROTHERHOOD of Scouting and should get together now and then just
to be together and have some fun, make new friends, and share some
ideas. I say the "theme" is secondary -- a hook to get Scouts (who are
probably happy to be there) and Scouters (who sometimes need a nudge) to
