We have had OUR OA act as the MAIN staff and as support staff
for local camporees. Those that served STAFF functions were
the ONLY ones that camped in the staff area. I think that
helping to run the camporee does represent service to the
units! It also helped the older scouts to habe something
a bit more special to keep them interrested in scouting etc.
Sure it is a bit ellitist! So is the OA elections, and so
is the goal of being an Eagle scout! What is more ellitist
that being a member of the National Eagle Scout Society?
It gives the younger socuts something to work towards!
Some camporees have been completely planned and run by the
OA which gives them a great learning experience, almost like
an Eagle service project. I guess my thought that SERVICE to
the scouts unit, does not have to be ONLY within the unit!
The OA ceremony teams also run a big bridge crossing ceremony
at the Spring camporees, as CUBS become SCOUTS. I think that
also provides a service to the units!
What do others think?

Fall 93 camporee was a GIANT Monopoly game!
