Re. O.A. members camping as a lodge (separately from their troops):
In general, I think you are right in being uncomfortable with this
situation at the Fall Camporee. Are there extenuating circumstances? For
example, is the lodge "sponsoring" the camporee? - or are the events being
staffed exclusively by O.A. members? Absent these sort of special circum-
stances, I feel the idea is a bad one. A boy's first allegiance in this
matter is to the troop, not the lodge. I think you're right about elitism.
This sort of thing can lead to some really hard feelings down the road.
After all, it's hard enough to schedule troop events around the lodge needs
without deliberately building in conflicts.
My opinions are just that and nothing more!
