The following has worked in my situation: As boys progressed through the ranks
we always awarded "Mom" a small mothers pin with each rank advancement. This
was attached to a 1" blue ribbon about 6-8" long starting at the top. The
ribbon was fixed with a simple clasp at the top for attachment to clothes. This
custom was continued as boys graduated into Boy Scouting (red ribbon this
time). It was a real pleasure to see mothers wearing blue and red ribbons with
the Eagle pin at the end. We always had good participation from these families.
My wife still wears her ribbons at district functions and my son is in college
now. It worked for me
