Several of Robert Heinlein`s `juvenile SF' had the characters as scouts.
There was one short story that was really scouting oriented. It was about
a Eagle Scout who was moving with his parents to Venus. They had a two week
layover on the Moon so he was going to try to earn Eagle Scout on the moon
(they had different required merit badges relating to living in that
environment) and then earn Eagle on Venus, thus being the first `Triple Eagle'
in the solar system.
_Farmer in the Sky_ also had a big scouting orientation. The main character
was an Eagle scout on earth. On the trip to Ganymede, all the scouts formed
3 troops on the ship, and when they got to Ganymede they discovered there
already was a Scouting Association there and there was a little conflict
between the scouts from the ship and those already on Ganymede.
