Since I've been lurking (and learning) for a while, I guess it's time to say hi.
My name is Al Lilianstrom. I a Wolf Den leader in Pack 49 in Streamwood,
Illinois. We're part of the Three Fires Council. This is my first year of
scouting as a leader (well maybe second. I led our group of Tigers last year)
and I was only in Scouts for a couple of years as a youth. The pack I was in
was not real exciting. Lost interest and left. Then along comes first grade for
my son Shawn and he comes home one day from school with a announcement for
Tiger Cubs. Until then I hadn't thought about Scouts for a long time. Tigers
was a blast. 4 of the 5 kids in our den got along great and the parents even
got along. Well now I have the 4 who got along in my Wolf Den and 2 more new
ones coming from roundup. Roundup was actually quite depressing as only 10 kids
were there. (6 tigers, 2 wolf, and 2 bear) Our first pack night of the year
last week had 18 more kids show up. That seemed more like it.
We're just starting up for the year. The kids are all working on their Bobcats.
The parents seem to be into it and my wife, who has never camped, say's she'll
go next summer to family camp. Should be fun.
I do have a couple of questions which can be answered via Email if you wish.
1) what are the requirements for the sports loops/pins for the cubs and
parents? I can't seem to find the requirements anywhere and we have a new
advancement chair who's not up and running yet. Do summer sports count?
2) One of our favorite pack night songs is Announcements, sung whenever the
CubMaster says Announcement. Does anyone have any extra verses to it?
