Greetings to all (yet again):
I just checked with the local BSA council (Monmouth Council, NJ) regarding
the issue of 18-21 adult registration.
The ONLY (note the emphasis, please) adult position that 18-21 year olds
may hold is as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Sorry folks, but no other is
allowed. A person must be at least 21 for other adult registered positions.
Of course this does not mean that they cannot attend Troop Committee
meeetings or attend training, etc. How you use them is totally up to you.
You just have to register them as ASM's.
oops, I just realized that I did not check on Cub registration.
I just called them back; an 18-21 year old on the Cub level may only
be registered as Asst Cubmaster, Asst Den Leader, Asst Webelos Leader.
This means that BSA is consistent in that an 18-21 can only be in an
"assistant" registered position.
