Olan and others:
As our scout executive has stated, if you have bad food, you
have a bad camp. The food this year was quite good (until
Thursday lunch -- the raccoon burgers stayed with us for quite a while,
I understand they have been dropped from the menu.). The camp has
hired at considerable expense a staff from Service America to do the
cooking and it seems to have worked well. The dining hall seats
way over 300 and is the largest building ever to be made entirely
of wormy chestnut. (Although I don't know why they make such a
big deal of that.) Ah...tradition!
Our camp? Camp Manatoc in the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National
recreation area just north of Akron OH. Cost $100 ($110 at the door)
and the first two leaders are FREE.
For info (216) 773-0415 (Great Trail Council) 7 weeks of summer camp

PS. At least we didn't burn down our Trading Post like some camp
south of us. Hee. Hee.
