Good Lord, you done went & made me homesick, Keith.
That is where my Dad started working his ticket back years ago (1972 I
think). He used to be a bear... A Teddy Bear, that is. R4-15. Keith, if
they still hang the patrol flags, for that course, see if you find "Carl
The stories he told me when he came back... said it was the best time of his
life (up to that point). From the sounds of it, the youth finally gets to
come out of the adult, for one brief spell. Can't wait for my turn at it.
I was there for the 1973 EC-6B OA Conference. The description of Camp
Mountaineer that Keith gave doesn't tell it well - Camp Mountaineer was, in
my youth, one of the finest Scout camps in that area, probably the Region as
well. Anybody who wants to go there should - they will not be disappointed.
Excellent reservation in a beautiful part of WV (almost heaven, almost home).
Yes, I miss West by God - it was where I was born & spent most of my life.
The sunshine of Florida is nice, but nothing beats green mountains in the
