--correct. You may ONLY wear the Quality Unit patch under the unit in which it
was earned. However, you need not to have been a member of that unit for the
year it was earned.
--if a Webelos transfers into a troop that is a Quality Unit, he wears the patch
on his BS uniform too. It is NOT the Scouts who earn the award, the UNIT earns
the award. Therefore, anyone joining the unit is ENTITLED to wear the UNIT
recognition, just as they can wear the "50" or "75" tenure strip if
and I quote:
The Quality Unit award patchis worn by youth and leaders on the right sleeve,
position 3 (4 inches below the shoulder seam. ONLY THE MOST RECENTLY EARNED
QUALITY UNIT EMBLEM MAY BE WORN. (That means 1 and only 1 patch, the most
current. That is the MOST often ignored part of the whole question.)
You are NOT to wear a "line up" of QU patches marching down your sleeve.
Whenever you have a question reqarding uniforming, remember, the basic premise
-- it is for identification, and recognition, not for "parade grounds."
Your source for such information is " Insignia Guide" published approximately
every 18 months, sometimes 12 months, part no. 3064A.
