In our council, the district advancement chairman reviews all these
for each Eagle application. They require access to all the scout's
blue cards and lower rank advancement cards. I don't know if they have
cross-checked the MB counselors, but they have found minor differneces
between the dates in our records and those at council and want a
correction or explanation.
I don't understand the reluctance to be officially registered as
a merit badge counselor. Filling out the forms takes a few minutes,
but I would feel quite bad if a scout had difficulty getting his
Eagle because I didn't bother to get officially registered. Isn't
it worth doing this right?
