From my fight with a NOT major overwight problem, but enough that
my DOC wants me to lose 10 pounds to help get my blood pressure
undercontrol, I think that for some of US, the overwieght condition
is also a sign of mental weakness! The DOC gave a a list of
foods to eat, and some NOT to eat, plus a 30 minute daily
exercise program, to include a 3 mile walk. I get tired and
hungry just reading it! HOWEVER, I averaged over 7 miles a
day at the jambo, plus the 5 K run/walk ( I did about 50/50),
and I gained 5 pound BACK!
BUT I totaly agree about physically fit adults to set the example!
At least I am working on it! I will NEVER forget the sight of
an overwieght SM for a world jambo troop, sitting in the center
of a campsite, YELLING at the scouts to put up HIS tent first!
Scout leaders SHOULD be good examples, NOT the examples of what
NOT to do as an adult leader!
I also think there are leaders in scouting that are KNOWN to drink
far to much alchohol, plus those that still SMOKE around scouts,
even in the dinnning areas at the jambo! I is hard to decide
which is the worse EXAMPLE for scouts.
scouter, at LEAST I TRY TO DO MY BEST!
