I just finished reading my introduction to the Scouts-L group which
recommended the posting of a personal introduction.
I have been active in several councils since my parents moved a lot, but I
earned the Eagle Award and Vigil Honor in the now merged DuPage Area
Council/Natokiokan Lodge (41), Illinois. While living there I was active
on the Camp Freeland Leslie waterfront staff for 4 summers. I also had the
good fortune of working at the Maine National High Adventure Area out of
the Matagamon base as a Guide one year and Asst. Chief Guide the next.
Unfortunately, my understanding is that the entire program is now defunct.
Quite a loss to the scouting community.
I will admit to being rather lax in my participation as of late; I had no
real awareness of APO as an undergraduate and now graduate studies in
forestry and a young family keep me rather busy. In the meantime, I try to
keep up with the trends in Scouts by net and appreciate your discussions.
Yours in brotherhood (sisterhood too!),
