An added note on fund raising.
When we signed up for hockey we paid a base fee and could choose to
participate in the fund raiser if we wished. If we did, we were charged
for two boxes of candy ($48 total). We got the candy, sold it and kept
the money (we had already paid). If we did not want to participate in the
fund raiser, we were charged $24 additional and didn't get the candy. If
a boy sold more than two boxes of candy, half of the proceeds were applied
to future registration or tournament fees.
It got the money for the program, but allowed people to not participate in
the door-to-door selling.
