A very simple CALL out OR OA Tap out can be as follows:`
(with two representative OA member's in OA headress, minimum)
From a district camporee campfire platform:
The MC would announce that the members of the OA will now
CALL out the socuts that have been elected to attend the
OA Ordeal, but thier respective troops. The OA members
step into the council ring. One of the OA members states
that we will now call the names of those elected by thier fellow
scouts to be ordeal candiates. He then READ's or repeat from
memory the PURPOSE of the order of the Arrow from the OA
handbook. The second member of the OA, then opens a scroll
conatining the NAME's and posibly units of the candidates.
If there are other OA MEMBERS available, they may escourt
the candidates forward. The "chief" will then place his
extended arm on the sholder of the candidate THREE times.
The candidate is then placed in a line behind the fire.
After all the candidates are called forward, they should be
taken aisde to a spot out of few of the general group, and
provided with information on the ORDEAL weekend. Or have
an oportuninty to ask questions etc. It need NOT be long
and drawn out. Simple and elegant is more significant.
I have seen MUCH more fancy TAP outs with flaming arrows and
the Indians carry a torch accross a lake in a canoe etc.
Use waht ever resources you have, but remember the purpose
of the call out, is the recognise the recently elected before
thier fellow scouts.
