Clever these National people!
Just finished reading the report from our Area 3 committee set up to review the
Area Scout camps, needs, etc. This is a plan for 1995-2000.
I will bring the paperwork to work tomorrow and quote exactly what is being
considered for our area camps. In summary, all but three will be closed to
B.S. camping, while another 3 will remain for C.S. camping program development.
Yes, there will have to be some building (dining halls, etc.) and the like to
bring each and every camp up to the stated criteria. However, the decisions
are not being made on the activity level of any one council, the decisions are
being made based on a set of measures (sound familiar?) that will meet the
projected 2000 requirements of boyattendance at summer camp. I am sure that
the same process is going on in all parts of our country.
More later on this.
