My daughter was in Girl Scouts, and some of her fiends were in
campfire. Both were fairly happy with the choices, and some
switched over time. I think the thing to do would be to check
with the specific leaders of each potential group and find
out what they have done the past year, and what is planned
for the next year. Then your daughter and YOU can deciede
which program sounds like the best fit. YOu may even want
to check with more than one GS troop. They do not all run
the same programs, and there are some significant variations
in the Nieghborhood organizations and the nubmer of larger
events that are going on during the year.
My daughter selected a troop that met at a local church rather
than the AFTER school troop at her school. At the after school
troop seemed to do was cafts. The group from the local church
went out for several campouts, in all seasons, and trips to Boston
and was very OUTDOORS program.
Local troop may each be quite different, as are the facilites at
Campfire camps and girl scout camps.
