pogey bait, n phr (Variations: pogie or pogy or poggie or poggy may replace
pogey) fr WWI armed forces, Candy and cakes, etc; sweets; nonmilitary food
and delicacies carried on field exercises [so called because they could be
used in the seduction of boys and young men, "pogues", into homosexual acts]
pogue (POHG) 1 n A youthful homosexual male, either willing of unwilling
partner of a homosexual male; =PUNK "The kid was a pogue"-Robert Stone
2. n esp Vietnam War armed forces, Any despicable boy or young man; =PUNK
