I was delighted to see the article on annual program planning in the
latest Scouting Magazine--perfect timing for my May Roundtable presentation.
I've long been an advocate of annual planning for all units. I remember how
well it worked for my troop when I was a boy. We developed an overall plan
late each spring that carried us from summer camp to summer camp. I miss
program helps--they gave us a starting point which we modified to meet our
own local needs and schedules. (We probably used about half of the themes).
It occurred to me that some of you might be doing some successful annual
planning that you would be willing to share. I would really like to let
people know that it is not an isolated instance covered by Scouting Magazine
but that units really do plan more than a meeting or two ahead!
If you are willing to share, I will print out comments to pass around the
picnic table--May Roundtable is a picnic in this district. I'm interested in
both the process and the product.
