Scouts raising Pigeons?

Since this list is so wide spread, I thought I'd make use of it to
investigate the latest project I got myself into...
I'm looking for contact with any Scouts (boy or girl) or Leaders who are (or
have in the past) raising and/or racing Homing Pigeons.
My son raised and raced Homers for four years, and among other things he
used them as one of his Merit Badges (Pets). For those youngsters here on
the list... us old-timers who remember can tell you there used to be a
"Pigeon Raising" MB available but it has gone the way of many of the 4H type
animal husbandry MBs and is long gone.
Anyway, my wife and I have taken over the pigeon flock from our son and are
enjoying it a lot. We have a small flock, as flocks go, about 75 birds. Many
breeders around here have several hundred+ at any one time.
The local pigeon club has tried for several years to get more young people
interested without much success. I offered to contact anyone I could find
within the Scouting community to talk with them about their experiences, the
good and bad, with pigeons and try to get a plan together to recruit more
youth into the hobby/sport.
Anyone who has any comments or might be interested in starting up a pigeon
loft of their own can contact me directly, or through the list, and I'll be
happy to talk pigeons with them, and how the birds can fit into Scouting.
