Great list -- reminds me of the days I spent in the Boundary Waters of
Minnesota-Ontario. Although there were lots of outfitters with fancy
freeze dried and dehydrated items, we always did our shopping at the super
market. Although I don't have it here, there was a booklet that listed
items available in grocery stores. Something like "Backpack foods in
your Super Market." We always ate well.
BTW, in Boundary Waters, you can't even carry in the cans or bottles so
we did a lot of repacking.
The thing we found was that carrying a 'spice kit' made everything taste
better!! The extra ounces were usually worth it.
