I have just subscribed to this group and as suggested, I would like to
introduce myself to the group.
My name is Jay Johnson and I am an Assist. Scoutmaster of Troop 76 in
Jefferson City, Tennessee (NR Knoxville). I also belong to the Eagle
Scout Class of '86. In the summer months, I serve as the Waterfront
Director of Camp Buck Toms, our council summer camp. I first started
working there in 1986 as a lifeguard as a way to pay back Scouts a bit
that I know I owe them. Instead, as a result of working at camp, I think
I owe Scouting even more. It is a debt that cannot be paid. I have also
been a participant in the European Camp Staff Programme in 1990 working in
Camp Downe, a Scout camp just outside London, England. This program is a
great way to experience International Scouting and I would encourage any
Scout to consider it.
Outside my Scouting, I am a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville
working on my BS in Sociology. My plans are to move onto to grad school next
fall to work on either Public Administration or Criminal Justice. I work for
the University as a Resident Assistant in an all male hall of 300 men.
I hope I can and give something to this group.
Yours in Scouting,
