Gerry, (and others not in the USA)
I first wanted to address the skinny dipping comment above. BSA National has
decreed several years ago that even in same sex camps, there will be NO
situation where adults and youth are to be unclothed together... not skinny
dipping, not in community showers, not anywhere. It's all a part of our
Youth Protection Program (YPP).
So we don't have to worry about mixed sex swimming sans clothes <g>, we
can't even have the same sex version.
Now as far as 'talking' I guess it really depends on the topics, but we
found that in our Explorer Post, the young men/women seem to be good group
friends and do tend to have long, late conversations (usually within site
of, but out of earshot of the adults).
I guess it depends of the individual youth, but all the ones in our Post
appreciate the out of doors and the various camping, hiking, abseiling, etc.
activities we do, and then gather around the campfire (or whatever) to
visit. They've actually had some rather deep talks sitting around the local

On this topic, we don't allow 'electronic' toys on our outings, it kind of
takes away from the point of getting out and doing Exploring stuff.
