No, not really.

Simple- the separate "Varsity Scouts" program is NOT sports oriented, dispite
the titles, while the in-troop Varsity Scouts idea IS sports-oriented.
I know this is confusing. When the original Varsity Scout Team idea first
came out about 1985, some Scouters, because it was called *Varsity* Scouting,
etc. thought that it was sports oriented. It really isn't. It's basically
very similiar to the original idea for Explorers, ie a scouting program
focusing on older boys and giving them challenges that isn't usually done in
regular troops because of the younger scouts.
