> (BTW....how's things shaping up for INTERCAMP 93???)
I spoke with a couple of members of the Intercamp Committee over
the weekend, and everything seems to be getting put in place.
Instead of being hosted by a different country each year, the event is
now run directly by the committee (one representative from each country
taking part), supported by a staff of 10 members from each country.
With the drawdown of NATO forces in Germany, changes had to be made to
how the event was run. Czechoslovakia (or whatever the western part of
it is now called) is now a full member of Intercamp.
On a more personal note, my application for a staff position was
rejected, so I'm now looking for another ticket item in the "Service
to Others" category. I've only got three free weekends between now
and mid-July, so finding something else that I can complete between
now and the Gilwell Reunion (first weekend in September) is going to be
On top of that, I've only got one Troop going to Intercamp, and at the
moment, I'm not on the list to go with them - the Troop committee has
rightly decided that the adults with the group should be the same people
driving the Scouts there. We have five adults looking for three spaces;
three of us can drive, one can still pass for under-18, and then
there's me. :-( (Make that four free weekends...)
As far as the other ticket items are doing: one was completed last
weekend. :-) Three more are well on track and three more are still
A total of four projects have failed altogether - twice now because the
group I was offering service to rejected the offer, once for health
reasons (I was off work at the only time available to do the key part
of the project: someone else stepped in.), and once simply because I
failed to understand how a BSA Cub Pack operates.
