In the council that I am in, we do not require a leader to go to training
every year. Yet we recommend that they go every few years to get the new
info (3-5 years). We also offer the Youth Protection Training every
quarter, (we just started this) and are requiring leaders to go to this
training. It is good for 5 years.
National has not come out with a statement saying Leaders MUST be
trained every year. It may be your Council's policy though. I will ask
my Scout Executive tomorrow as I have staff meeting with him. If there is
a change, I will let you know.
