I have no idea if the troop still does this but when I returned from
and the baby boom had turned to baby bust (the troop had gone from 60-80 to
maybe 20) the troop could no longer afford to go camping at some of the
state park facilities which were traditional with the troop. So where did
they start going? A girl Scout Camp. This was to add some varity to using
the BSA camps. I do not recall the troop ever having problems getting a
tour permit signed.
Yes there were Girl Scouts in camp at the time. Not only did they out
number to boys, but they literially killed them in a snow ball fight!
So, if you want to RISK going camping with the Girl Scouts, find one of
their camps which will let you in and take your tour permit to the Council
office, 10 to 1 they will never notice!
