The following letter was an insert in the March issue of the American
Scouting Traders Association Report. I have traded with a C.J. Bell in
Knoxville in the past without incident, but that was over a year ago.

March 3, 1992(sic) NEWS FLASH
I hope that you receive this in time to put into the next issue of The
Ameican (sic) Star.
Clyde Bell was arrested in Florida for passing a bad check that was for
a patch purchase from a Florida collector. This collector is interested
in hearing from any other collector who has been cheated by Clyde Bell
or who ever has received a bad deal from this man. Write to, or call
Mike Diamond at 41 Riverridge Trail, Ormand Beach, FL 32174,
904-677-0042 or 904-274-4717. Please help out because we need to put
this man in jail for as long as possible so, that he will not be a
blight on our hobby for as long as he is in jail.
More good news: Wallace G Loper Jr. has been arrested in Knoxville, TN
thanks to a criminal complaint sworn to by Dr. David Leubitz. If any of
our members have sent money to this person and have not received your
merchandise, we need for you to contact Mr Richard Voiles, Knox County
District Attorney Office, P.O. Box 1468, Knoxville, TN 37901 or phone
him at 615-521-2515. He needs documented proof of fraudulent intent on
the part of Mr. Loper to advertise items for sale and take money and not
deliver the goods. It is thought that Mr. Loper is one of several
students recruited by Clyde Bell to run this scam therefore, if we can
put Mr. Loper in jail then we have also put a crimp into Mr. Bell's
Be advised that if you receive any mail bid sales sheets or offers to
buy patches from the Knoxville, TN area that you may fall victim to one
of these crooks. I would only trade with persons who are members of one
of our hobby's organizations such as ASTA, NSCS or APTA.
