In two of my previous councils, roundtable publications were an "in kind"
donation. Businesses who had office copiers agreed to run off the materials
each month. We were careful to not duplicate material that was available in
program helps. Printing of Pow-Wow materials one year was paid for by a local
craft and hobby store in return for a "coupon" insert that gave registered
den and pack leaders a 20% discount on purchases made for Cub activities (even
special orders). Their prices were already on the low end so it was a great
deal for all. BTW, an office supply place offered a similar deal on publishing
the council newsletter one year.
My experience is that councils often look to areas such as this to "save"
money. But, since it was relatively easy to find people who would do it for
us, it really didn't make a difference.
