You are exactly right. The ideal crossover time is about 18 months.
I have argued in earlier postings that the boys are ready somewhere
between Jan 1 and later that spring. Let's get them into the Troop
and experience some camping before Summer camp and if you don't get them
to Summer camp -- you have probably lost them. So what's wrong with
a April/May crossover -- let's not pretend that Baseball and soccer
don't exist! Givew them a taste of the Troop in Jan-March, and they will
be back after the playoffs in June raring to go!
