Here are your answers ---
1. Scouters Key for Scoutmasters (1990 change)
a. complete Fast Start Training (we know this is part of session one (topic
wise) of the Scoutmastership Fundamentals, so can be approved if the whole
course is completed.
b. Complete three part Scoutmastership Fundamentals
(note the old SLD training no longer counts as os 12/13/91)
c. Conduct troop junior leader training (three times)
(The troop committee chairman approves this one)
Your answers are in your Scoutmaster's Handbook. The JLT at council and/or
district are not to be counted towards this requirement, and never have
been meant to do so. National has for the past 12 years been trying very
hard to Scoutmasters to do their own youth training (within the troop) and
that is the only one that counts. Our Scoutmaster and his assistants run a
course right from the book (now they use national's junior leader training
course (new in 1991) and available for purchase.
d. particpate as an adult in junior leader training - same course as above
OR district and/or council.
e. participate in onr supplemental training course beyond basic ----
this could be a Showando -- a district junior leader training course -- the
new training course for experienced BS leaders (just out from national) -
or Philmont training center -- etc.
f. earn the Boy Scout Leader's Training Award --- this award has ALWAYS
been earned BEFORE the key. No one has ever legally earned them in the
same program in the other direction.
your earning of the training award at any time , place, time, unit counts.
g. attendance at roundtables at LEAST SIX during each of three years
h. your tenure must be at least 3 years as a Scoutmaster WITHIN a 5-year
period. This is the only time constricted part of this award.
i. earn the BS Troop National Quality unit Award (2 times) also within
your 5 years period, and while you are the Scoutmaster.
Took this directly off the progess card. good luck.
