Clip Art Disks

OK, so where am I going wrong? I am not a computer neophyte (but I'm
not a "power user" either). Before the holidays, I used the TELL command
from the IBM CMS system I am on to tell the LISTSERV to get two of the
PCX clip art files. They showed up in my reader, I received them, and
downloaded them to my PC with Kermit (SOP for me at work, nothing unusual
for me to do). I uudecoded the file into a ZIP file with no problem. A
view of the ZIP file with LIST showed the list of individual PCX files.
I used my current version of PKUNZIP to unzip the file, got all the PCX
files, but also got a batch of error messages about bad headers and CRC
problems. When I popped into Windows/Paint and opened one of the clip
art files, I had garbage--just a blur of black and white.
So I used TELL to get from the LISTSERV the UUDECODE and unzip programs,
thinking that if I keep to those standards this all might work. UUDECODE
works to produce the ZIP file, but the version of unzip locks up my PC (I
haven't gone back to re-request that file yet). I tried one more thing
just to see if it would work and requested a file via MAIL to the LISTSERV.
Same problem--the resulting PCX files are produced with PKUNZIP, along with
error messages and the view is of garbage.
I am just a low-level volunteer who was checking this offering more for
the fun of it, so my life won't be incomplete if I don't get clip art.
(my contact with the district is non-existant and the office is 40 miles
away and only open during regular business hours, although the Scout Store
is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.--but the inconvenient schedule
is another story).
I am interested more because of the frustration factor--I am doing all
the right moves but somewhere there is a glitch being introduced and I
don't know where. Any advice or assistance will help lower my frustration
level (at least on this project). Thanks.
