In reply to Nathan's problem of the committee folks not wanting to
It is my understanding that for an adult scouter to receive any type
of award, namely serivce knots, etc, that adult must be TRAINED!
If the committee members have at least two years service time as
registered adults, then they should be eligible for a knot, provided
of course that they have completed training.
I work and train Cub Scout leaders and we encounter the same
problem of leaders not wanting to attend training. I have told
many that were dragging their feet, "If you want to receive YOUR
award (knot) then you MUST attend Basic Leader Training".
That logic has worked and in turn, I have had a few of those folks
say thanks and that they enjoyed the training. ENJOY, imagine that,
training being fun. Now where does it say that Scouting is supposed
to be fun. I think I read that somewhere...
I hope this helps.
