At our annual Father SON campout, which ended up under 18 inches of
very heavy snow, the PCL and SPL etc., set up the schedule for the
campout before we left for camp. The menu and all activities were
known at the time the permission slips etc., we sent out for SIGN UPs.
If your troop goes to camp on a just for fun weekend, I don't think
that a EARLY to rise program is required. On the otherhand, IF you
are preparing for a camporee/competitive camp, or an advancement
filled summer camp program, it would be better to run an UP at dawn
DOWN at DUSK program. But, we let the Junior leaders decide, with is
reason! It is their unit. We can guide them, but if you FORCE them,
you can quickly lose them! The are times to work, and times to relax!!!
As a "father" this past weekend, I relaxed, and as always I HAD FUN!
