Just a brief note to introduce myself, my name is John Beaumont, and I have bee
a Scouts-l subscriber for some time now. My Scouting experiences are sharply
divided by time into two periods.
Period One: As a youth I earned Arrow of Light, and later earned Eagle Scout
in 1965 at age 18 as a member of Troop 62, Tri-State Area Council, Huntington,
W.Va. I also served as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 62, and am an Ordeal
member of the Order of the Arrow, Thal-coo-zyo Lodge.
The Hiatus: From about 1966 to 1989, I was distracted by undergraduate school,
graduate school, marriage, professional school, and then children. Several
years ago I was unable to attend a dinner honoring my Scoutmaster, John Dalton,
for his many years of service to Scouting. The best I could do at the time was
to send him a letter of thanks, and a personal commitment repay Scouting in som
way for the many years I had enjoyed.
IUm Back!: Currently affiliated with Pack 49, Mountaineer Area Council,
Morgantown, W.Va. Tiger Cub Organizer 1989; Secretary-Treasurer since 1990;
Webelos Den Leader, 1992 - 7 meetings to date.
