I stand corrected.
Let me go a little further on this process of adult selection. While it is true
that the CM or SM may not be able to sign the application, it is dangerous
for the committee or the chartering organization to ignore their opinions
on the subject. As a Scoutmaster, I will not accept an assistant chosen without
my agreement. I have to be able to work with my assistants week after week.
Of course the committee may recommend to the chartered organization that I be
fired, but that creates another vacancy to fill.
