I believe training and surveying the adults helps to deliver a better program
to the youth. Of course the youth should be trained and surveyed as well.
I have been surveyed twice within the last year. I believe this is
due to my having taken training at PTC. One can question the selection
method -- it cannot be random, but they (the surveyors) know they
are talking to people who are interested in having a good program.
Training is important, but every training session, courses, etc. must be
evaluated. We do not want to waste anyone's time with things that do
not work. We want to deliver the best program we can.
Our district committee "sort-of" functions. Right now we need an activities
chair and a district chair. My biggest problem is the overlap between the
district committee and the commissioners' staff. Certainly, every
commissioners' training course I have had says this should not be the case.
I am certain we will get these positions filled. I just don't want
any commissioners doing these jobs.
Last summer there were two training courses for district committee members
at Philmont. It appears that district committee members will have training
aimed directly at them now.
