The was recently some questions as to wether or not SCOUTS could
even use PUBLIC buildings such as schools for meetings. The same
action was recently help against BIBLE study groups that meet
after school. I think on the NETWORK News area, there was a
report that the SUPREME court of at least a STATE level upheld
that any group had the right to use public buildings for meetings
so long as they did not break the law at the meeting, or plot to
overthrow the govenment. It seems that perhaps all these frivouls
court cases are being DUMPED upon BSA in an attempt to deplete the
resources of BSA, as some form of revenge! IE I you (BSA) won't
alow atheists as members, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY, one way or the
other. And once in a while, like in California, BSA does lose!
Which means a large majority of the youth poplulation loose as
well. I guess that it is still as important as before for BSA
to go to court to defind the right to hold up our ideals. HOWEVER,
since the BSA is somehow chartered by Congress, can't congress
pass laws or otherwise shelter BSA from constant court cases?
Next thing you know, The PLEDGE to the FLAG will be changed,
and the Churches will be sued for not allowing athesists!
I guess I finally have to begin to side with some of the very
conservative people out there. If you don't like BSA or scouting
as it is, then find something else to do. But please let us that
love this program, continue to serve the youth as best we can.
