I do not like this above "concept" of a SCOUT function! The WEBELOS should
have been camping enough as WEBELOS to be prepared to camp with SCOUTS.
OUR 2nd year WEBELOS are invited to attend the FALL camporee with the troop!
By the SPRING camporee, they are mostly SCOUTS. We normally have one other
troop campout with the NEW SCOUTS and the whole troop before SUMMER camp.
Most summer camps seem to be running a NEW SCOUT program that should be
geared to first year campers already. I DO NOT think making WEBELOS wait
even longer to graduate to SCOUTS is the right plan.
The WEBELOS are almost an EXTRA patroll of our troop! By the time they
graduate, they are ready to be an integral working part of the TROOP.
But that is not the way all PACK/Troop relations seem to work.
