For those who have been following the mergers, here a couple that have not
happened, but are expected (per local professional) in the next year.
Yuma Arizona will merge with San Diego. Northern Arizona (Flagstaff - who
knows what the council name is) will Merge with Phoenix (Roosevelt I think
is this councils name).
If my information is coreect, this will leave Arizona (excluding Yuma) with
two councils, Tucson (Catalina) and Phoenix (Roosevelt).
The reason this
came up was rather simple. If Catalina does not get it's act together,
they will be next to merge with Phoenix (ick!). That will mean all of
Arizona will be one council (except Yuma which will be part of San Diego).
This is kind of hard to figure when one stops and realizes that Arizona is
a growing state (with lots of immigrants now coming from California). But
I am sure there are even bigger councils (in square miles) in less
