Subject: BSA Hurricane help
I just talked to our local BSA Council.
The only information that she had was what she had received from the
Regional office, by the way. This information is
on the "Adopt a Troop" program where a BSA troop adopts a South Florida
troop. Apparently a number of troops lost ALL equipment for the troop in
addition to the boys' personal losses. The local council also has
information on where financial donations can be sent.
There has been no effort (as far as this council knows) to have BSA troops
go in to South Florida to assist in the clean up effort. Part of this is
due to the boys not being allowed to miss school and part due to the fact
that a large part of the clean up cannot be done "by children" (the local
council person's words, not mine!).
Hope this answers those questions on this topic! Perhaps a good
opportunity was just missed with the Labor Day weekend and no school....
