RE: Introduction and a question

As a former Webelos Den Leader and Pack Commissioner, this question came
up many times in the Pack that I worked with. Here is what we did...there are
many other possibilities and I am sure you will get a lot:
* set up with parents
* "tagging" the awards for the Cubmaster (making sure that every boy that is
supposed to get an award is present...many times adults are so busy putting
the "finishing touches" (signing the card, attaching the award to the card),
that they don't know for sure if the cubs are there or not)
* escorting guests/parents to den areas
* giving out programs
* assisting with/handing out refreshments
We tried a lot of those and it works....for about three or four months. Then
as with everything geared to fourth and fifth graders, it kinda loses interest
so be ready to be flexible and be prepared to alternate the "special skills"
between both WEBELOS Dens.
My example of a "typical Pack Meeting" a couple of months back had the two
WEBELOS Dens arranging the chairs at the school auditorium and setting up
the displays which would be for the parents to see.
Hope that helps!
