Your previous post on the TAC fee clarified the original message for me.
I don't have a problem paying to help support Scouting. I only get aggrevated
with some of the tactics used to acquire the funds. For example, we are in
the midst of a capital campaign to raise $1.9 million for camp improvements
(sorely needed improvements!). Rumor has it that the 1993 FOS campaign will
ask for a $150.00 pledge to be paid over three years. This sounds reasonable
until you learn that the Council will supposedly turn around and raise the
suggested '92 pledge amount ($68.00) to $80.00+ for the 1994 FOS. People who
agreed to the $50.00/year from '93 will then pay at least $130.00 in 1994 and
1995... if they continue to support FOS. The general FOS donors will
*not* be told about the 1994 increase until long *after* they have made their
1993 pledge. This is an underhanded tactic (to say the least!) and I think it
will cost the Council much more than it will gain from the manuever.
But this IS the Council who told our District Chairman that he should *not*
ask questions or discuss valid issues at the Council meetings....
