Your idea may help Scott. WE/HE (bsa people in general) can get
treated poles from the power company here, you just have to make
arrangements as to where an how many. Lots of poles damaged
and removed last year in the ICE storms!
Scott thought about just laying four foot sections of the poles
accross the trail, and nailing some treated 2 x 6 to the poles
as a deck. They want the trail to be accesible by wheel chair,
so stepping "stones" or blocks won't go. I think we can get
enough 2x6 for the worst RUN donated I think. We also have some
access to creek gravel and flat shale rocks, but also need to
get it hauled to the site! And I thought he had picked a simple
"get it done in a week project"! :)
Scott says thanks, and he is on the phone arranging for poles.
It helps when the "phone pole guy" is a neighbor, and was active
in scouts til he recently retired. Scott just said that he
(phone pole guy) says to use rail road ties, and told him where
to call!! Maybe this is easy after all!
