Just a thought...
Our district training committee identifies one person (beadholder) to serve as
a Woodbadge representative. This person may or may not be on the course staff.
Their primary job is to identify those who qualify for the course and sell it to
This must work pretty well since something over 10% of the TOTAL adult
registration (over 40 out of 400) have completed one or both parts of the
course. We had eight from our district in SE-558 (8/47, not bad). Most of
those have completed their ticket. One moved away.
The council issues invitations based on applications from the districts so in
order to go, you have to ask first. The stated priority is SM, ASM, all others
until the course is full. Our Woodbadge rep makes sure those who want to go get
into the system.
On the subject of uniforms: Weekend courses are less demanding on the number of
uniforms. I got by with just two out of the three I already had. I could see
how someone might get by with just one, if they are careful.
SE-558, the ticket gets turned in this week.
