WE Beavers are fast little things....so you better enjoy the walloring!
Note about DEs taking Woodbadge.....They are NOT required to take it right
after NEI, but just like us volunteers, it is a part of their professional
education program. DE (41) and EE (44) must take Woodbadge to be certified
with the Professional Training Award, in addition to their four years of
professional service and training (and other courses which need to be
taken...National Camping School, Exploring Administration, and several others).
The Professional Training Award is seen by senior professionals as a sign of
further committment to the volunteers and to the profession. There are only
(at last read) 227 of our 5233 professional corps that has earned this award
(or have received credit for the award in previous years). There are only
118 professionals that have went on further to earn the Professional Circle
(which requires two more years and a extensive researech paper).
Most Des are encoraged not by the CE/SE but by fellow Scouters in the District .
They see a Woodbadge-trained DE or EE (exploring executive) as "one of us",
and build their relationship with the "newbiew" as a result of their
participation in the same Troop or even Patrol of a Woodbadge course. This
aids cohesion of the District and who knows, the other volunteers just ightht
might like her or him!!
