I have always been told that the "invitation" must come from the Council
President and I believe there is sample in the Admin Guide. Mine is at
the office so cannot confirm that.
We here in Birmingham are having a course next year. We are distributing
a flyer for those that have an interest in coming to the course. I have
a tear off in it for someone to send back their name and address so that
the Council President can send out the "invitation". Most time no one is
refused unless they do not meet the basic training requirements or do not
have the tenure. As we do a week-long course, I doubt we would ever turn
anyone down. As for keeping ours closed, we are wide open when it comes
to scouters from other councils coming. We always try to have a minimum
of one staffer from out of council to insure this. This year we will probably
have possibly 5 staffers from over our state and maybe one from Atlanta.
WE DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THE WOODBADGE FRATERNITY and have not for at least 8 yea
rs and the course was stopped because of it for the previous ten years.
The course is supposed to be fun and informative not a boot camp.
